The idea of sitting together as a family in order to reflect and ‘plan’ the year ahead might not have been part of your family traditions but it is worth considering. We tend to think that the idea of resolutions for the new year should only apply to individuals and just to adults. It is empowering to reflect and decide to concentrate efforts on particular outcomes, so why not as a family unit? And why ever not include our children, particularly adolescents?
This year we took a little time and wrote down things we desired for our family and for ourselves on Chinese lanterns and then sent them up into the night sky, we had some hot chocolate to round up and embraced before going to bed…roll on 2013!
